Bulgaria is fantastic
for a cheap summer break with loads to do for the family including hiking, biking and horse riding in the surrounding mountains.

There
are various local hotels in the neighbouring villages of Borovets and
Dolna Banya with the choice of indoor and outdoor swimming pools. There
is ten pin bowling at the Rila hotel in Borovets and the usual range of
hotel spa services at a wide variety of hotels for very reasonable
prices.
Lake
Iskar is around 20 minutes drive away and is 25km long. It is beautiful and
there are some great restaurants where you can enjoy a lakeside
view whilst enjoying a very reasonably priced meal.
Lake Iskar is a haven for watersports enthusiasts. Here you can enjoy wakeboarding, jetskis, windsurfing, fishing and various other sports. The water temperature averages 26c and air temperatures can reach 40c.
4x4 Jeep safaris are available along with monkey bike (mini motor bike) excursions. All of these can be arranged for you but we ask that you contact us in advance so that we can put you in touch with our local contact to arrange this.
There are numerous golf courses in the area already and one, designed by Jack Nicklaus, in the process of being built in the neighbouring village of Dolna Banya.
There are various spa towns in the region all within a short drive. There is also the world heritage site of the Rila Monastery although this is a little further around the Rila mountain and would be a day trip. Car hire can be arranged on a daily basis. The
WRC rally is now expected to go through Borovets every other year. In
the alternate years Borovets has Rally Bulgaria part of the European Rally.
