Flights are not included in the rental cost but can be bought from many airlines including, easyjet, wizzair and bulgariaair - prices start from £35.00 per person each way, inc taxes, with easyjet (Gatwick - Sofia).
We have a local contact, Dave, that can arrange any services that you require. Dave lives in the village of Raduil and has done
for many years. He assists other house owners in the region and enjoys a
great relationship with the locals. Please
contact us for further information and we will put you in touch with Dave. You can then enjoy your holiday avoiding the stress of making arrangements with various different parties prior to or during your holiday. Ski hire and passes can also be arranged, please see 'Winter Sports' for further information.
Transfers from Sofia airport to the house can be arranged and take 1 hour. The cost for the transfers are (Total one way):
1-3 people 100 lev (£45 approx)
4-7 people 120 lev (£53 approx)
7-14 people 200 lev (£88 approx)
Ryan Air are now doing cheap flights to Plovdiv. This is around half an hour further for transfers and will be a little more expensive than Sofia transfers. Please contact us in advance and we can clarify the exact cost for you.
We would recommend hiring a car in the summer to see the sights but making use of the transfers in the winter. Dave can arrange transfers to the house and then arrange to rent you a car for the days that you require this. This avoids you having to find your way to the house from the airport and means that you don't have to hire a car for the whole of your stay whilst it is only going to be used for a few days.
During the ski season Dave can arrange transfers to and from the slopes, collecting you at the ski house. There are buses and taxis available from the village though they are not as convenient/competetive. Raduil is the very next and closest village to Borovets. Having access to services and transfers to the slopes
means that you can enjoy being in a detached house in a village setting and the cheapest local prices, whilst feeling as supported as any package deal you could find.
From our own experience many places that are advertised as being Borovets are in fact some way out of Borovets. Raduil is the nearest village to Borovets and this means you being able to enjoy the busy apres ski of Borovets itself together with the serene mountain village setting of Raduil. We feel this makes for the best of both worlds, particularly for families but also for groups of friends who can then be together to enjoy shared company instead of being in seperate hotel rooms or apartments.
Dave has a restaurant and bar along the road and if you wish you can contact him to arrange a breakfast and evening meal package. There are many restaurants in Borovets all of which provide good value. There is a taverna in the village where you will notice the prices are even cheaper. The local village supermarkets are cheaper than Borovets and there are larger supermarkets a short drive away in Samakov.
By arrangement we can have provisions of your choice at the house ready for your arrival and you simply pay the cost of this to our local contact when you arrive. We recommend at least getting the basics so that you are not concerned with having to find somewhere to eat or shop as soon as you arrive, particularly after a late or delayed flight. To give you an idea as to the cheap cost of food in Bulgaria this is a list of what we had in place for our last stay.
